Why
In the school house we are very reactionary in the social media world. We find ourselves chasing all the time. The “Social Media Guardians” are a way for us to be proactive. With teen suicide, bullycides and daily negative social media interactions on the rise – we need the students help.
Format
- Talk to group of students handpicked by the school
- First build connections with group and within the group
- Work with the students to develop skills that will keep them and those members of their social media networks safe
- Help students recognize when social media interactions are potentially unsafe for themselves or others
- Build trust between the students and leaders in the school
- Go over the plan for students to share information anonymously with school officials
- Go over the role of a social guardian
- Agree on the importance of social guardians
